Iraq War Vote

Today's cloture vote on the Feingold-Reid Amendment to cut off funding for the Iraq War was an important step forward to end this horrible war. Majority Leader Harry Reid co-sponsored the amendment with Senator Feingold and 29 members of the Democratic Caucus voted with Senators Reid and Feingold. Sadly, our own Senator Carl Levin was not among them.

Please join me in sending an e-mail to Senator Levin. Let's tell him that we want him to vote to end the funding of the Iraq War. Go to the Senator's Web site http://levin.senate.gov/contact/index.cfm and let him know how you feel about his vote today.

Senator Debbie Stabenow did vote for Feingold/Reid. Some of us have disagreed with Senator Stabenow's votes on the Military Commission Act (torture), the Bankruptcy Act and the Flag Burning Amendment and we e-mailed or called to let her know. Here's our chance to let Senator Stabenow know that we approve of her vote today. http://stabenow.senate.gov/email.htm

I have a lot of faith in Carl and he did what he did for a reason, I know he withdrew his own amendment because he said it would not pass and it would just take up valuable time. He may have through the same about Feingold, which did not pass and his vote would not have change a thing.

I am for waiting and seeing what he comes up with.

I've just called Levin's office at 202-224-6221 to express my disappointment with his vote. I will call Stabenow's next at 202-224-4822 to express my gratitude. We need to let our "voices" be heard whether by e-mail or voice!
Thanks, Donna, for communicating!
