It's time for the main event in the race for the two Livingston County seats in the Michigan House.
In House District 66, Democrat Donna Anderson defeated her young opponent, while Bill Rogers won the Republican primary.
Neither one has ever served a day in the Michigan House. So as far as I'm concerned, they start off on equal footing. Neither one is more experienced than the other when it comes to being a state lawmaker.
In House District 47. Democrat Scott Lucas had no opposition. He now knows that his opponent will be Republican Cindy Denby. Denby was on the staff of outgoing Republican Rep. Joe Hune, who voted against the school aid bill that provided more funding to Livingston County schools. Denby's performance in the recent Livingston Press and Argus debate was less than impressive for someone who claims to know her way around Lansing.
These will be competitive races -- especially if you volunteer to help Anderson and Lucas in their campaigns!

ludicrous.
i'm no fan of rogers, but he's got experience in elected office. he runs the county board. you could use it against him, but to deny that he has governmental experience is ludicrous and won't win you the election
Rogers has no experience as a state rep. He is not running for county commissioner again.
I think having run for office helps you run for the next office, but the jobs are very different.
Ludicrous, is comparing a county commissioner with being a State Representative and thinking they are at all the same.
by thatreasoning, nobody can boast experience in a campaign for state legislature other than incumbents. you're saying serving as a county commissioner (chairman) has absolutely no bearing on ability to be a state rep?
he presided over probably the most conservative, regressive and do-nothing county board in the state. use that against him. but don't say he has no experience, because that's crazy, willful blindness that won't win the election. are you really going to try to convince people that Anderson is just as experienced as rogers? won't work. run on your democratic ideas.
