Dave Bonior for Secretary of Labor?

The word is out that former Michigan Congressman Dave Bonior is one of three people under consideration for Secretary of Labor in President-elect Barack Obama's administration.

What a boon to working people that would be! There is no one who understands working people better than Dave Bonior, who graced us with his presence at our "Countdown to Victory" party at Whispering Pines.

The Associated Press has a list of other cabinet possibilities in the upcoming Obama administration.

That's a great list, any one of those would be fantastic:

LABOR SECRETARY

•Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., chairman of House Education and Labor Committee
•Former Rep. David Bonior, member of Obama's Transition Economic Advisory Board
•Andy Stern, president of Service Employees International Union

A great list? Funny, but when Bonior was running for governor, he took a contribution from a guy who praised terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbohlah..."I am Hezbohlah" the guy yelled at an outdoor rally. It was so bad that even Hillary Clinton turned back his contribution. But not Bonior. Stories at the time suggested he didn't want to offend the Arab community since it might give him needed votes to win a crowded primary.

So how about that? Bonior is willing to traffic with a guy who supports terrorists? He also thinks the Arab community can't recognize that fact. Or is it that Bonior can't differentiate between Arabs, Muslims and terrorists?

Yeah, I'm thrilled to see him as part of the Obama team. Obama can do better. He must do better.

David Bonior is an excellent choice. As for the idiot who claims “Bonior is willing to traffic with a guy who supports terrorists.” That mud didn’t work against President Obama, and this lie won’t either. You should have learned that smearing by association didn’t work on Tuesday, and it won’t work now.

It often seems that Republicans can just spew dogma and do not really care what happens to our country.
I am so sick and tired of the scare tactics, it is just plain silly.

It's funny that you call it spewing hate...but it is a fact. You can look it up. The guy was a contributor and supporter of terrorist groups. When that news surfaced, Hillary returned his contributions. Bonior wouldn't. He was the guy who equated Arabs and Muslims with terrorists because he thought the being tied to the terrorist supporter would help him with the Dearborn vote.

So you call me a mudslinger and dogma spewer? What about Hillary then? Was she bowing to hate groups when she returned that donation? Or was she doing the right thing?

I didn't buy into nor approve of the crap thrown at Obama. But this is different. It's the truth. You don't have to trust this "idiot." Just ask Hillary.

David Bonior is not qualified to be Secretary of Labor. He is so focused and absorbed in the concepts of the traditional labor movement, which has lost its relevance in the current economic crisis, as to be counterproductive and without perspective. He would do a disservice to and embarrass the Obama administration.
