Chris Ward -- Goat or Hero?

As Chris Ward enters his last days in office due to term limits, his six years in the Michigan House are coming under scrutiny.

After a Livingston Press and Argus editorial praising Ward's performance, the Conservative Media provides some balance.

Balance? You call that balance.

Here are some of the people who have been effusive in their praise of Chris Ward: Andy Dillon, Steve Tobocman, Jennifer Granholm, Phil Power. Even Dianne Byrum gives out some grudging respect.

Notice any similarities? All are Democrats and have played big roles in the party and/or the Legislature. You think they are less knowledgeable that McBluster Guru?

It's stunts and opinions like these that make it hard to take you seriously. Ward has a damn decent legislator who didn't happen to agree with you but who always got elected. You don't seem to be able to handle that.

I didn't say they were less knowledgeable. I said here's another view.

But his view is so wrong and so at odds with a vast majority of reasonable voices...including leading Democrats.

By putting up his statement for the sake of "balance", you are endorsing his view. In so doing, you are endorsing a hack who is a practioner of slash-and-burn politics. We don't need more of that and I'm sorry to see you siding with this faction.

His only criteria is based on a partisan perspective. In his mind, all Republicans are bad and all Democrats are beyond question. How can such an attitude lead to a better state?

His attitude explains why Chris Ward was one of only 2 Republicans to bolt the ranks on the budget vote. Even if they felt it was the right course, the rest surely believed that a "yes" vote would gain them scorn from the GOP and would earn them nothing of value...the remarks of this blogger (and your apparent endorsement) only support their beliefs.

If we punish people for doing the right thing, how can we be surprised when they choose not to?

His point is that for years Chris Ward was part of the problem. His one good deed needs to be put in context.

His "one good deed?"

Again, listen to or read the comments by Granholm, Dillon, Tobocman, Power, even Byrum.

They don't refer to "one good deed." They say he was a principled, able political foe who believed in a conservative philosophy different from theirs but who nonetheless could be trusted, who knew the facts and who reached across the aisle. And they said those traits made him both rare and effective in Lansing.

These are what DEMOCRATS...leading Democrats...say about Ward. And you reduce that to "one good deed."

No wonder we get the politicians we have. In the end, you get the politicians you deserve. And you...and the guy who slammed Ward...apparently believe in the politics of destruction. How's that been working, by the way?

Please at least have the courage and the decency to tell me and others ...on the record...that you think that Dillon, Granholm, Power, et. al were either wrong or lying...or else explain the great disparity between their views and those of the guy who brings so much "balance" to this debate.

Still waiting for a response...You put up a comment from McBluster Guru that slams Chris Ward. Yet leading Dems across the state praise him, even though they disagree with his political positions. They are able to see good things in a person who disagrees with them.

Which side are you on? Is Guru right, or do you agree with Granholm, Dillon, et al?

I can see that Chris Ward made a decision of conscience in his last term. If he had not been term-limited, I wonder if he would have voted for the right thing or the Republican thing.

It's very hard for politicians to vote against their careers. So many times I've heard that if your party can't win in a district, change parties. Maybe Chris Ward will decide to be a Democrat now.
