Granholm's Focus Is Spot-on for These Times

It was the right speech for the times.

Rather than a "something for everybody" kind of speech, Gov. Jennifer Granholm's State of the State message on Tuesday (Feb. 3, 2009) was focused on what the state needs most -- initiatives to create more jobs, improve education and job training, and protect Michigan families.

Just meat and potatoes, no dessert.

The governor's tone was perfect, promising government will take care of essential business only, sacrifice the few non-essential services that are left, and still try to move the state forward by continuing to diversify its economy. And continuing to defend the state's core industry -- auto manufacturing.

Many of the details already had been leaked, including one of the film studio projects, ending state funding for the state fairs, a freeze on college tuition, and consolidating state departments.

Still, some things surprised me -- the total of 55,000 jobs created since August.

Why haven't I read that in the mainstream media anywhere?

Yes... she is hitting all the right notes! She is awsome! Don't you just with she could blow us away for another term??? Prediction... Livingston County will get nothing from the state for the next two years because of our governor's partisanship. She will not call a special election to fill the open state senate seat out of pure partisanship. She will not even consult our local representation to fill the open court seat out of pure partisanship. Now that Blogo (Democrat from Illinois) is gone, she is the worst governor in the union. She is the worst governor our state has ever had!

I completely agree with the post above "she is the worst govenor our state has ever had!"

No matter your political affiliation, since Granholm has been in office Michigan has been experiencing a steep economic decline. Only an idiot would deny this.

HEY DEMOCRATS: It's okay to still hold true to Democratic values while disliking a Democratic Govenor... don't worry, no one will think you're a conservative for calling a spade a spade!
